Holiday Candlescape

Candles not only provide atmospheric light and fragrance, they have become main decorative accessories in the home. Scents are either highly elaborate – a combination of perfumes to create a harmonious blend or a focused, simple component. Popular smells include those that evoke outdoor/fresh scents such as fresh cotton, pine, & the ocean. Natural ingredients used in the wax and packaging are on the rise – soy & bee’s wax. There is a push to keep candles paraben, silicon, & preservative free. click here to read more.

Potted Herb Garden

By Kok Hwa Chung Thursday, November 15, 2012

I love to use fresh herbs when I cook. Tear up a few fresh basils & place on my homemade spaghetti - makes my Italian dish extra fragrant and delicious. For that reason, I keep a small potted herb garden in the kitchen. It’s easy to grow potted herb garden and it actually saves you a lot of money. Just because it is an herb garden, it doesn’t have to be boring. I like to create a functional, yet attractive potted herb garden. click here to read more.

Garden Gnome

By SY Lee Tuesday, November 06, 2012

Chubby, cute and beaded garden gnome can bring character and charm to flowers, fruit, vegetables, bushes or any garden. Rumor has it that they will make your flowers bloom faster, fruit taste sweeter, and your vegetables grow to enormous sizes. Is this true? Garden gnomes have been perking up gardens in Europe since the mid-19th century. They are really old, way older than my great grandfather! They originated from Germany, first manufactured in Poland. Personally, I think garden gnomes bring a touch of whimsy to any garden. Some are sweet and adorable, some look sad, but some are naughty and ‘chicky’. Have you seen them posing inappropriately? They just make me laugh! My 4 years daughter said, "That is not nice" – shame shame! click here to read more.

Terrariums Are Great for Office Space

By Kok Hwa Chung Sunday, November 04, 2012

Terrariums are great for office space. Having indoor plants in the office do more than just prettiness. They also help to clean the air we breathe. Study show that having indoor plants in the office also help to reduce stress, improve happiness and job satisfaction. It is very easy to install a terrarium yourself. You will need the plants, a glass vase and some decorative fillers like river rocks, sand and some accent objects. Before you start, think of a theme for your terrarium. I thought it would be fun to create a summer beach theme terrarium. click here to read more.
