Holiday Candlescape
By Laura W., Tuesday, November 20, 2012Candles not only provide atmospheric light and fragrance, they have become main decorative accessories in the home. Scents are either highly elaborate – a combination of perfumes to create a harmonious blend or a focused, simple component. Popular smells include those that evoke outdoor/fresh scents such as fresh cotton, pine, & the ocean. Natural ingredients used in the wax and packaging are on the rise – soy & bee’s wax. There is a push to keep candles paraben, silicon, & preservative free. click here to read more.

Just because it is an herb garden, it doesn’t have to be boring. I like to create a functional, yet attractive potted herb garden. click here to read more.

Garden Gnome
By SY Lee, Tuesday, November 06, 2012Chubby, cute and beaded garden gnome can bring character and charm to flowers, fruit, vegetables, bushes or any garden. Rumor has it that they will make your flowers bloom faster, fruit taste sweeter, and your vegetables grow to enormous sizes. Is this true? Garden gnomes have been perking up gardens in Europe since the mid-19th century. They are really old, way older than my great grandfather! They originated from Germany, first manufactured in Poland. Personally, I think garden gnomes bring a touch of whimsy to any garden. Some are sweet and adorable, some look sad, but some are naughty and ‘chicky’. Have you seen them posing inappropriately? They just make me laugh! My 4 years daughter said, "That is not nice" – shame shame! click here to read more.

You will need the plants, a glass vase and some decorative fillers like river rocks, sand and some accent objects. Before you start, think of a theme for your terrarium. I thought it would be fun to create a summer beach theme terrarium. click here to read more.
